Description

The official minimum system requirements for a Meta Quest 2 to PC experience is an Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X CPU, 8GB or more of memory, and Windows 10. Graphics card support is wide-ranging, though there are a few caveats. On the Nvidia side of the aisle, Quest Link cables are supported by All of the new RTX 40-series GPUs, and most of the RTX 30-series as well, with only the RTX 3050 laptop, and 3050 Ti desktop GPUs not being recommended for use. The RTX 20-series and GTX 16-series are also supported (apart from the GTX 1650), as well as most of the GTX 10-series, outside of the 1060M. Consider restarting the Oculus Quest 2 as rebooting the system can frequently take care of minor technical issues.

Cable Matters makes and sells a number of Quest 2 compatible USB-C cables that would make wonderful alternatives to the official Quest Link cable. There’s an active USB-A to USB-C cable for the Quest 2 VR headset – although it will work with any compatible USB device. It comes in 16.4 and 24.6 feet lengths and features a right-angled USB-C connector so that it’s easy to plug into the Quest 2 while keeping the cable tidied away. Oculus Quest 2 comes with a USB-C charging cable, but it’s not really long enough to charge as users have a good session on BeatSaber. It’s possible to gain access to Oculus Rift, Steam VR, and other tethered experiences without investing in more expensive hardware. The issue is users will need to be tethered to a VR-capable gaming laptop or PC to achieve this. No, the Air Link is a free feature on every Oculus Quest 2 headset. Cross-Platform Integration with Your Oculus Quest 2Two years after the Oculus acquisition, Oculus Rift saw a retail release in March 2016. It was a unique proposition for virtual reality enthusiasts at the time, offsetting processing to a capable PC and touch controllers allowed for more possibilities than the competition over at Samsung with their smartphone-based VBR experiences.

A pairing code will appear in your Meta Quest 2. Take off the headset and make sure it matches the code that appears on your PC’s screen.

You’ll be prompted to confirm. When you’ve disconnected, you can reconnect via the menu as above or unplug and replug your cable. You’ll be asked if you want to relaunch Link automatically that way. However, if your PC doesn’t have a USB-C port, you’ll need a USB-C-to-USB-A cable, a USB-C adapter, or a USB-C hub. Oculus Link should be all set up and ready to use. If you were unable to connect or your PC games struggled with performance issues, you probably need to update your PC or replace your cable. You’ll see your PC appear on the menu. Select the “Pair” option before following the on-screen instructions. Should, for some reason, the prompt to activate Link NOT appear, don’t worry. As long as the cable is plugged in and Oculus is installed and running on your PC, you can always do it manually.
