Hey there! My name is Steven and I have a passion for sports and staying physically active. I’ve played and watched sports all my life and have coached them as well for the last few years. Similar to an ordinary greensome, except that one player plays all the second shots on the odd numbered holes and the partner plays the second shots on the even numbers holes. They still both drive and elect the better drive for the appropriate player to play. Scotch Foursomes Play two balls (if they let you!) and only count the ball with the higher score on each hole and see if you can play to your handicap. Herman & Sherman I should probably have used 'equivalence/equivalent'. Handicap is a Stableford metric, so my '1 point equivalent' is of benefit to my handicap score, but still means a loss in the comp. In general language, a “bogey” might refer to an unidentified aircraft or flying object, especially as observed by radar and assumed to be hostile. However, in the context of this FAQ, we are specifically discussing the golf term. How can one improve their chances of scoring a bogey or better on a hole?

Teams of two play their own ball and count the 'better ball' or score on each hole. Played in matchplay, handicaps are 90% of the difference form the lowest handicapper. Fourball-Aggregate

Par” represents the number of strokes an expert golfer is expected to make on the hole or course. Every golf hole has a “par” assigned to it. Most holes are either a par 3, par 4, or par 5. On a par 4, an expert golfer is expected to take 4 strokes to get his ball in the hole. If you make a 4 on a par 4, you have just tallied a “par”. Rule 11.2 penalises those who deliberately deflect or stop a ball in motion. You’d usually get the general penalty (two shots or loss of hole in match play), but Rule 21.3d applies an exception when playing Par Bogey. Rule 21.3 says a player, or side, wins or loses a hole in Par Bogey by either completing the hole in fewer strokes, or more strokes, than a “fixed target score for that hole set by the committee”. This is a game of Fourball Better Ball matchplay (see below), but with 3 real players and one imaginary player called the Ghost. One player elects to play with the Ghost who always pars every hole. The Ghost plays off scratch and gives shots to every other player in the group as per normal. The game is usually best when the highest handicapper plays with the Ghost.

Birdie” and “bogey” are simple once you understand the concept of par. A player makes a “birdie” when he uses one fewer strokes than the par of the hole. If a player needs one stroke more than par to finish a hole, he makes a “bogey.” So, if you finish a par 4 with only 3 strokes, you make a “birdie”, but if you take 5 strokes to complete a par 4, you make a “bogey”. Your Pro has certainly done nothing that BREAKS the Roles of Golf - merely ADDED the requirement for Congu handicaps. A competitor is disqualified from the competition if he incurs a penalty of disqualification under any of the following: Rule 1-3 Agreement to Waive RulesA bogey in golf refers to a score of one stroke over par for a hole. If a hole is a par 4 and a golfer takes 5 strokes to complete it, that’s a bogey. How does bogey golf differ from standard golf scoring?

At the end of the round, the number of holes won is subtracted by the number of holes lost to give a final score and determine the winner. Playing Bogey Golf with handicaps Your Pro has certainly done nothing that BREAKS/IGNORES the Rules of Golf - merely ADDED the requirement for Congu handicaps. Links” refers to a specific type of golf course and, frequently, the style of golf that is played on those courses (“links golf”). “Links” golf courses are noted for the firm, tightly-mowed grass that covers the course and the naturally undulating and rumpled ground they are built on. In addition, links courses rarely have trees or water hazards , replacing them with deep sand traps known as “pot bunkers”. Links courses are also usually located on ocean coasts, where strong, changing winds play a major factor. There is no requirement to hole out when the player has lost a hole, except as mentioned above on holes where the player would have received 2 shots. If you are a casual or avid golfer, the term bogey is not new to you. However, new and beginner golfers should not fear the word bogey.A golfer’s handicap is an indication of how many strokes over par they will average per round, however, a golfer will not shoot their handicap every time. A competitor who breaks Rule 6-3a (Time of Starting) by showing up late, but is on the tee and ready within five minutes of his tee time, is penalized with the loss of one hole on his total. The same applies if a player breaks Rule 6-7 (Undue Delay; Slow Play). No standard terms for 2 or 3 or more over Par have emerged. They are just double and triple Bogeys. Depending upon how good you are, anything over 7, 8 or 9 will be a ‘Blow-up’ or a ‘Disaster’.
