The BBQ itself is great, very high-quality construction, plenty of stainless steel and is still looking great 6 months after I built it- having been left outside every day. I added a cheap cut of steak to the grill and the searing was impressive, far superior to what I have come to expect from a standard BBQ. I then transferred the steak to the raised second shelf and allowed it to slowly reach my preferred internal temp.

Halogen interior lid lights for close observation of the cooking process even in poor lighting conditions The sear plate needs a mention- rather than a gas hob, this has a sear plate which gets very hot and makes for searing the perfect steak. It is also great for cooking veg- tenderstem broccoli, peppers etc- all amazing on this burner. To test the setup I switched on both burners with the lid down and left for around 15 mins. I was pleasantly surprised to see the temperature reach around 350°C/662°F. With the addition of a stone this could easily double up as a Pizza oven. Some BBQs also have a side burner, which tends to be used for preparing food that you wouldn’t grill. These expand your BBQ’s cooking capabilities but aren’t a necessity.

In addition, you should always set up your gas BBQ in such a way that any flames cannot spread to, for example, tables, blankets, umbrellas or other easily flammable objects. Make sure that your gas BBQ is always on an even surface and never lean over the grilling surface when lighting it. Gas bottles should always be stored in such a way that they are protected from the sun or high temperatures and stand upright. To be on the safe side, we recommend not using gas cylinders that are already dented or damaged in any way. The unit was supplied with a propane regulator but due to my enthusiasm, I swapped this for a butane attachment & bottle to which I already had access.
