The plot revolves around June trying to find somewhere safe where she can build a life after being abandoned with a young baby. June is able to heal as well under these circumstances while never learning the hurt each of these individuals keep to themselves. Iris and her daughter couldn't live in the same space and her daughter moved out of the main house when she was still a young teenager.

There, she discovers in the jungle behind her ancestral house a spellbinding garden that harbors a terrifying secret.

This is my first novel by this author, but now that she is on my radar I plan to check out her other books, as well. As the system could only render four sprites per scanline, Naka and Kawaguchi instead drew the enemy bears to the background. I give Lisa Jewell a lot of credit, right from the start I felt totally immersed within the garden community. Her arrival sets a series of events in motion and what was once broken has a chance to be mended, which is a wonderful thought.
