The poetic text structure makes the book approachable, and the subject matter is relevant for anyone.

As the books are made from high-quality paper, they would also make a very special first wedding anniversary gift. So whether you're cuddling with your child before bed or just want to relax with an adorable tale, we've chosen some books that are bound to make your storytime even more heartwarming than normal. While Frances tries to juggle her heritage, school, tennis, and the mysterious disappearance of Clara’s hair, she comes to better understand her sister in a sweet and unexpected twist and finds where she really belongs.

I'm still hoping for picture books that are more inclusive of other queer identities, especially trans people.

There are all kinds of kids wearing that heart rainbow shirt — both boys and girls of all different races — so that really, the story is not coming from one child, but from the world of children craving kindness, understanding and acceptance. I don't like giving mediocre reviews to books like this, but I just wasn't that impressed with Love Is Love. It's bedtime for Suzy, but she's scared of monsters - and things get even more scary when Bunny disappears during the night! I wish there was more LGBT+ representation, though-- the only word used throughout the text is "gay" until you get to the educational resources at the end. Five children from different countries show us who they love and how to say 'I love you' in their own languages.I also didn't like how the book attempts to use the word 'gay' throughout the book even though the author explains why in the back matter it just felt like if anything it created even more of a stigma to the word because it was used just about on every page. There are plenty of notes at the end for kids and parents (which I'm not usually a fan of in picture books; if you can't say what you needed to say in the main text, then maybe the book needs some work). This sweet and straightforward story shows that gay families and straight families and everything in between are all different kinds of normal.
