About this deal

You get 6 pairs of eartips of S/M/L sizes, a glitzy cable that apparently has SPC Litz structure, a clamshell carry-case, some spare dust-filters and a tweezer (surprise! That's a big point for the Starfield, they're quite a looker the metallic blue paint combined with the shape of the body gives it a very unique look, some people report the paint chipping but my unit is holding fine so far, but i really take care of those. The bass has slow decay, which won’t be too much of an issue had it not been the general lack of texture in the bass response. The impact factor is yummy and musical, but the raw tone of the upper end is on the clinical side, prone to some gentle brightness.

This special combination of delicacy and lightness means the Starfield is better able to just disappear within the music. mm) thick diaphragm have a combination of high rigidity, high toughness and lightness, and provide clear, detailed and smooth treble. The Starfield is hardly moderately responsive to alteration on the low end and requires a fair bit of added dB down yonder to start hearing a difference.I like symbolism and less clutter in my visual presentations so this was something I really enjoyed from an artistic standpoint.

This results in a generally very pleasant tuning that can be considered generally flat/neutral in the midrange and treble, with an extra dose of warmth in the fundamental range without colouring the lower mids by too much (although there is undeniably more lower midrange warmth compared to Etymotic’s XR dynamic driver equivalent, so it is ultimately a coloured lower midrange response), followed by a bass lift that extends in a very nice slope that peaks in the true very low sub-bass wherefore the Starfield have got a very prominent subwoofer-like character if the recording really reaches as low as the true low sub-bass (that boost is around 14 dB above flat neutral in the lowest sub-bass, and around 7. If you are on a train or bus and have a relatively silent part in your music then it can be distracting. As I've said, the Starfield is not even near being "light-weight" which means comfort and fit can be really tricky for some. According to Chemical and Engineering News, “processing the carbon nanotube film into thin yarn arrays doesn’t weaken the thermoacoustic effect but can greatly improve the device robustness and durability. The reason why I rate them low is because the cable is garbage, might be just my unit, but I doubt it is a single unit problem. The midrange is great in terms of tonality and the vocal performance is mostly excellent (unless you are fan of growling metal vocals). My suspicion is that this will likely depend on how well they're taken care of, so it might be a good idea to put a foam divider into the small round case that it comes with to prevent the two earpieces from touching. The nice thing about using a dynamic driver is that you don't get any of the dreaded "balanced armature timbre". Starfield is equipped with a 24AWG litz structure 4N purity OFC earphone cable, which ensures rich sound details and full dynamics.

My Starfield are a good bit bassier below 100 Hz but have a greater focus on the true low sub-bass as this is where their peak frequency lies whereas they are quite comparable above that. It has a sleek dark blue look with a slight magenta tinge to it, accented by a shimmering gloss that fits appropriately with the moniker 'Starfield' - as if it were a snapshot of the night sky itself. They provide an excellent and balanced sound signature that is exceptionally smooth and easy to listen to. The bass line in Mac Miller’s “Circles” is so gentle, and doesn’t slam it in your face, which I am grateful for, as the overall song has a very slow tempo. I hear no difference between my Burson Conductor 3, a full-size amp that costs quite a lot of cash, vs the R6, which is just a great portable music player. The Moondrop Starfield is a single Dynamic Driver design with a 10mm diameter Carbon Nanotube (CNT) diaphragm. I've used many sources in reviewing the Starfield, iFi Hip Dac, Cayin N5ii, Shanling UP4 and Topping D10s paired with Cayin c5 and Periodic Audio Ni. Overall — solid build, with the only caveat of paint chipping off (too many such cases to chalk it up as happenstance).D which has so many instruments and opera verses which Starfileds handled with ease, every instrument could be heard distinct and crisp clear due to which the whole experience transported to studio recording space and it became very easy to pin point location of every instrument placed in 3-d sphere of audio immersion. I previewed the Starfields for a few hours at home after receiving them, and I quickly fell in love with them for the generally neutral and laid back sound. They have excellent resolution, but treble roll off is rather quick and you do miss some macro-details. As mentioned before, stick with something clean and neutral, something regarded for an exceptional treble response. There is no bleeding into the lower-mids, and vocals are even better portrayed on the E3000 esp the growling vocals.
