We’re almost to the end of my airing out all the parts of the book that were incredibly uncomfortable to read, but unfortunately I’ve ended up saving the best for last. As I’ve mentioned a couple times, the humor in this book ends up feeling misogynistic because it’s about a woman but by a bunch of men. This is made infinitely worse when Slott has a character accuse She-Hulk of actually being a man. This scene is one that’s intended to be funny, but considering the misogynistic and transphobic groups that try to make these claims about women in real life – especially athletic women of color – this scene is pretty hard to read as anything well-intentioned. In the coming weeks, look out for more news clippings on "Blue Devil Boy Found In Church" or "Man With Dodgy French Accent Explodes Card Factory". And before you cry wolf, declaring that this could also be the Z-list villain named Porcupine, just know that the brief glimpses we've already seen of this spiky nobody in the trailers don't include metal claws.

She-Hulk by Dan Slott, A Sensational Series - Something Central She-Hulk by Dan Slott, A Sensational Series - Something Central

Dan Slott (born July 3, 1967) is an American comic book writer, known for his work on Marvel Comics books such as The Amazing Spider-Man, as well as She-Hulk, Silver Surfer, The Superior Spider-Man, Tony Stark: Iron Man, The Mighty Avengers, and Fantastic Four. His work for DC Comics includes the books Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and Batman Adventures.

In November 2010, Slott took over The Amazing Spider-Man as the sole writer, marking the comic book's change to a twice–monthly schedule, beginning with Slott's "Big Time" storyline. [10] [11] Bruno, her bestie, doesn't specifically describe her as that, but when the word "mutation" comes up, it's accompanied by the '90s X-Men theme tune, which all but confirms that Marvel's merry band of mutants are finally on their way.

However one thing I couldn’t get past was the over use of the “comic book” angle. It was a cool concept and it worked for a while but then it started to become a “get out jail free card” with the plot lines. It took the court drama out the court room segments. I get that She-Hulk is fun and quirky but I do like a good courtroom drama every now and then. Daredevil really does this great. I really really love She-Hulk, and the way Slott writes her personality is on point. Truly. It’s just... Avengers (1963) Annual 16 & West Coast Avengers (1985) Annual 2: See Guide to The Avengers (1963). This is a crossover; the WCA annual comes first. On the one hand, with hindsight, this is very loudly a book about a woman created by men in a time before a lot of important discourse occurred. She-Hulk in the Fantastic Four by John Byrne in Fantastic Four (1961) #265-300 (Apr 1984 – Mar 1987)

I’m beginning to see a trend between the female comic book characters I read about for this channel. Note that Avengers Disassembled occurs between #10-11 of this series, which introduces a significant status quo change for Jen. It is listed below. Annual 19 & #285-286 : See Guide to Fantastic Four. Annual 19 crosses over with Avengers Annual 14. Solo Avengers (1987) #14 (2nd story): A She-Hulk & Titania story by Chris Claremont. Reprinted in Epic Vol. 3 and Marvel-Verse: She-Hulk. May also be collected along with Savage She-Hulk (2009) #2, which reprinted it.
