This isn’t a roller-coaster ride, rather than a thriller I’d call it psychological-suspense. Even rather than fast-paced with a pervading sense of menace, an uneasiness that quietly builds. Beatrice the successful level-headed older sister arrives from New York to unravel the mystery surrounding Tess’s death. Her flighty artistic kid sister who in her own condescending and slightly superior fashion she deeply loved. Gripping and haunting, this whodunit explores the powerful bond between sisters.” —All You Magazine Truly marvellous! As compelling as it is stylish, Sister exists in that rare place where crime fiction and literature coincide." - Jeffrey Deaver Thank you for visiting this bio. My books are not easy to slot into a particular genre, and you can usually be found under 'contemporary fiction', 'literary fiction', 'political thriller' and 'psychological thriller.' If you try one I hope you enjoy it. I loved this book. Another reviewer described it as a "crime fiction novel for people who don't like crime fiction" and I agree with that description. I've read a few crime fiction novels and really enjoyed them (e.g. the Millenium trilogy) but it can be a difficult genre to get right. I always feel overwhelmed when entering the crime section of a bookstore or library, faced with hundreds of books that look and sound the same. However, Sister stood out to me because it has a beautiful cover and not one you would associated with a crime investigation. It's serene as opposed to bold and bloody. I would have assumed it was more of a family drama novel and I believe this novel bridges the gap between the two genres.

Sister is a psychological thriller from the viewpoint of Beatrice. Beatrice communicates to her missing sister Tess through a letter or diary-like entries. The plot is centered around her attempts to find out the truth about Tess's disappearance. Perhaps a bit of a minor point, but Tess's body lies undiscovered in a Hyde Park toilet for five days...? Is it really plausible that nobody would have gone into the building in all that time, especially since a young girl was missing from the local area and the case was being publicised heavily? The story is told from Beatrice’s point of view as she looks at everyone in Tess’s life with suspicion. In her journey, she contrasts her approach to life with that of Tess. Beatrice’s journey as she unravels her sister’s events that led to Tess’s death will keep you hooked to your seat. Can she finally find the truth about what happened to her sister? The plot is well constructed, drawing the reader right into the center of the mystery. Rosamund Lupton has revealed Beatrice’s grief and loss so well that readers will find themselves empathizing with her.Rosamund Lupton was a winner of Carlton Television's new writers' competition, and before being a novelist, she was a script-writer for television and film, writing original screenplays. I found a lot to like in this psychological thriller about an ordinary person seeking justice for her murdered sister. Bee gets called to London from New York because her sister Tess has disappeared. Soon she is found dead, and the police judge it suicide in her despair over the birth of a stillborn baby. Yet Bee just knows that her free-spirited sister would not kill herself, and step by step she does her own form of investigation.

FilmNation Adapting The Quality of Silence for the Big Screen". www.rosamundlupton.com . Retrieved 13 March 2016. For years Rosamund Lupton has been a script writer for the BBC. She lives in London with her husband - a doctor - and two children. Sister is her debut novel. Visit her at rosamundlupton.com.A thrilling story of fierce love between siblings, Sister is a suspenseful and accomplished debut with a stunning twist. ( From the publisher.) The shooters view killing innocent children as acceptable collateral using their bombs in fairytales. The story is narrated in the terrifying scenarios of hope, light, and solidarity as people discover what they’re willing to die for and who they are. And imagine acquiring a new language and only learning the words to describe a wonderful world, refusing to know the words for a bleak one and in doing so linguistically shaping the world that you inhabit.” With Rosamund Lupton, I started wrongly by reading her second book firstly. Sister, her debut novel didn't disappoint me at all. Written as a letter to her deceased sister was an excellent choice. I was hooked to it from the beginning, especially with Bee's prose talking. it is also an emotional read, with great twists especially at the end. I totally recommend this book to those who like a good psychological thriller. The police and Tess’s family conclude the case as suicide and try moving on with their lives while accepting the self-questioning and revelations. According to the police report, Tess killed herself due to postpartum depression after giving birth to a still baby. However, she takes things into her own hands and embarks on a journey to find the truth, no matter the price she has to pay.

Beautifully written with an unexpected twist at the end…Thriller fans will eagerly await Lupton’s next book” —Library Journal, starred review This book is a debut novel by the author. That said, all I can say is I will definitely be reading more by her. Liesl Schillinger, The Mystery of a Sister’s Death, New York Times – Sunday book review, June 3, 2011 I was absorbed by it, confused, compelled. It’s an emotive read, looking at every kind of human trait, and I was moved to tears more than once. It’s one of those books where the full story is only revealed right at the very end, and even then you have to think, digest, re-read sections and digest some more before you’re hit by its full impact and meaning...and still you think about it, soaking it all in. It’s such a cleverly crafted book, dark and original. The character of Beatrice. I couldn't get to grips with her personality. At several points she describes herself as if she is introverted; she's afraid of confrontation, shies away from large groups of people, is anxious around attractive men etc; she seems to paint herself as a rather unremarkable, at times even timid person, yet she's also supposed to be a partner at a New York marketing firm at the age of 26. This didn't ring true for me and I didn't see why Beatrice had to have a high-flying job or be living in New York for the story to work.Though her family and the police see a grieving sister in denial, unwilling to accept the facts, Bee uncovers the affair Tess was having with a married man and the pregnancy that resulted, and her difficultly with a stalker who may have crossed the line when Tess refused his advances. Tess was also participating in an experimental medical trial that might have gone very wrong. As a determined Bee gives her statement to the lead investigator, her story reveals a predator who got away with murder–and an obsession that may cost Bee her own life. It’s the brave Rafi who has PTSD, a war-torn Syria victim who notices a small explosion in the woods informed of a bomb and then tells the head. His love drives him for his younger and emotionally troubled brother, Basi, and his desire to save him and the other students. What were your initial theories about how Tess died? How would you have pursued the case if you had been one of the DIs? Hello! My name is Dorota Galeza and I am a writer and a blogger.
