The Human Torch appears as a playable character in Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth, voiced by Roger Craig Smith. [69]In the Marvel 1602 universe, Jon Storm is a young hothead who has to leave London following a duel. Along with his sister, who is escaping a man she does not love, he joins Sir Richard Reed on his explorations, and is caught in the radiation of the Anomaly, turning him into a Human Torch. The Four continue their explorations until they are captured by Otto von Doom prior to the original 1602 miniseries. [ volume&issueneeded] The Human Torch appears as a playable character in Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, voiced by Kirby Morrow. [69] With his costume removed, Peter covers his face, reminding the two members of the Fantastic Four that he has a secret identity to maintain. The Torch has a solution to the problem and gets Spider-Man one of his old Fantastic Four costumes and a paperbag to wear over his face as a crude mask. Despite being embarassed by this new ensemble, Spider-Man grudgingly accepts it for the time being, since he has to wear something. Magneto holds the visitors of an abandoned prison hostage, demanding the release of his Brotherhood of Mutants (consisting of Blob, Toad, and Mastermind).

Iceman, Firestar, and Spider-Man attempt to stop Lightwave. However, she is powerful enough to defeat them. Aboard a space vessel, Buzz Mason forces Iceman into outer space, dooming Iceman if he remains there for long. Spider-Man convinces Lightwave to realize that the half-brother she loves is in mortal danger. Her reaction breaks Mason's control over her, and she saves Iceman and disables Mason long enough for Spider-Man to subdue him. Super-villains, however, weren't Johnny's only rivals. Mike Snow, a member of the Glenville High wrestling squad, bullied Johnny until an accidental flare-up of the Torch's powers scarred Snow's face. Despite their animosity, Snow concealed the incident, blaming the injuries on a prank gone wrong and maintaining that Johnny had actually saved his life that night by flying him to the hospital. [54] While Mike tried to move on with his life, Johnny did the same, dating fellow student Dorrie Evans, although she eventually grew tired of his constant disappearances and broke it off. Johnny met another teenage hero, Spider-Man, who broke into the Baxter Building hoping to impress the Fantastic Four. [55] They clashed when the Fox framed Spider-Man for stealing a Da Vinci painting. [56] Despite their early misunderstandings, the Torch had great respect for Spider-Man [57] and the two eventually became good friends. It is later revealed that the Human Torch was revived by a species of insect-like creatures that were implanted in his body by Annihilus in an attempt to force Storm to help open the Negative Zone portal. Storm eventually escapes, and Richards determines Storm was on the other side of the portal for two years from his perspective. [37] Kit, Boris (19 February 2014). "Fox Chooses 'Fantastic Four' Reboot Stars". The Hollywood Reporter. The Spider-Friends of Earth-1983 (described as a "kinder, gentler than most" world), except for Ms. Lion, are apparently killed by a dimension-hopping Morlun, set on draining the life out of every variation of Spider-Man across the multiverse. [26] Iceman 2018 [ edit ]Johnny also makes an appearance in the Ultimate Spider-Man video game, in which he challenges Spider-Man to a series of races. [ volume&issueneeded] Counter-Earth [ edit ] In the Season 3 episode "The Education of a Superhero", nerdy Francis Byte is an avid video game player who is especially engrossed into gaining the high score on a game called Zellman Comman at the local arcade. The villain Gamesman sends a hypnotic signal that entrances over 300,000 people in the city. This does not affect Francis' girlfriend Louise, Spider-Man, and Firestar, nor does the signal affect Francis' mind, which is distracted from entrancement by Louise and the game. Louise walks away from Francis, then also gets affected and hypnotized after having her pleas disregarded by Francis. He (unbeknownst to any others) plays the arcade machine so rigorously that it and other arcade machines (most of which are emitting the hypnotic waves) explode. The explosion somehow transforms Francis into Videoman. Not long afterwards, Johnny gained full possession of Reed's patents and licensing fee settlements as his sole living heir, becoming a billionaire. He decided to invest that money in a series of charities and bursaries to support the development of a better world. He additionally bought the abandoned Avengers Mansion, which had become the headquarters of the Unity Division, establishing a company to manage the building and its staff. [93] Fate of the Four [ ] Torch's brief relationship with Namorita lasted until he pursued a career in Hollywood. [ volume&issueneeded] It is suggested that he had a short relationship with his Uncanny Avengers/Unity Squad leader Rogue, following which he had a rebound relationship with Medusa (Crystal's sister). [52] [53] [54] At first it seemed as if he and Rogue resumed their relationship, [55] which was considered as an open secret, [56] however this relationship came to an end after his apparent death and when Rogue rekindled her relationship with Gambit. [57] He has also had relationships with civilian women.

Seeking an acting career, Storm was cast as the Old West hero the Rawhide Kid, but producers reconsidered and gave the role to Lon Zelig (actually the alien Super-Skrull). After working mostly in some television shows, Storm also spent some time as a firefighter at the behest of his former classmate, Mike Snow, [ volume&issueneeded] but when Snow moved away after his wife turned out to be a psychopathic arsonist and seemingly died, Storm left the job. He later returned to the profession during a period when the Fantastic Four was short on cash. [24] [ volume&issueneeded] Frustrated with her brother's directionless life and near-disastrous pranksterism, his sister compelled him to become chief financial officer for the Fantastic Four, Inc. Infighting and betrayal resulted in a near-catastrophe, ending Storm's position. [25] The Human Torch appears in the Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. episode "Monsters No More", voiced by James Arnold Taylor. [69] [72]Firestar actress Kathy Garver recalled that though the storyboards for each episode were completed before the voices were recorded for it, "... we really just worked from script. We'd do a roundtable to get the feeling of how the show was going, and then we would record". [6] Broadcast schedule [ edit ] Thermokinesis: The Human Torch has the ability to mentally control the ambient heat energy within his immediate environment, even when he himself is not aflame. He can reduce objects' temperatures (if they are in a normal range for existing on Earth's surface) to about 30 F, raise them to several hundred degrees, or extinguish open flames. His radius of influence is about 80 feet. The heat energy he takes from the environment is absorbed into his own body. If he takes in a critical amount while he is not aflame, he will become aflame. There are unknown limits to the amount of flame he can absorb into his own body harmlessly while he is himself aflame. For the third season, the characters' billing was reversed and the show was called, The Amazing Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk. It remained that way for most of the remaining years. NBC did air the show individually in mid-season (post 1986) after it was not initially announced for their fall schedule. Only some of the Stan Lee narrations for the third season are on the current masters. The missing narrations have not aired since the NBC airings. Levine, Adam (2021-11-30). One of the series' main characters, Firestar was created specifically for this series when the Human Torch was unavailable (due to licensing issues). The original plan was for Spider-Man to have fire and ice based teammates, so Angelica Jones/Firestar was created. Her pre-production names included Heatwave, Firefly, (both having already been names of DC Comics villains) and Starblaze. Spider-Man / Bombastic Bag-Man (Peter Parker) ( See chronology) (First appearance as Bombastic Bag-Man) (Main story and recap) Plasma Form: The Human Torch possesses the physical ability to envelop his entire body or portions of his body with fiery plasma without harm to himself (plasma is a superheated state of matter such as exists in the atmosphere of stars). Ordinarily, when aflame, the Human Torch is enveloped by a low-intensity flame of low-level plasma (reddish, approximately 780 Fahrenheit), which ranges from 1 to 5 inches from his body. He can, however, generate much higher levels and flames about himself. The energy used to support his low-level plasma is small; only when the Human Torch wills his flame to a higher level does the majority of surplus energy with the AR-HP complex become involved. In its plasma state, The Torch's body is no longer solid; projectiles that are not melted pass harmlessly through his body. In Issue #129 of Ultimate Spider-Man, Johnny attends another unsuccessful date with the same pop-star as before and after again becoming frustrated calls Peter Parker to give him an excuse to leave. Johnny laments that he does not know any nice girls and has no real way of meeting any, and wants Peter to set him up. After flying off, he encounters The Vulture mid-robbery. Johnny attempts to stop him, but is thwarted several times before being assisted by Spider-Woman (a female clone of Peter Parker who is still mentally Peter up to the point of her "birth" in the Clone Saga story arc, a fact not disclosed to Johnny). Johnny proceeds to follow her around asking her for details about who she is, going as far to flirt with her. The very embarrassed Spider-Woman swings off. [ volume&issueneeded]The high school library, used for one of the “ The Amazing Spider-Man’s” battle scenes, used a separate stage and was made of almost 3,000 feet of fake Styrofoam books with real covers. The Human Torch appears as a playable character in Lego Marvel Super Heroes, voiced again by Roger Craig Smith. [69] [84] Spider-Man has died numerous times, including in the storylines “The Other” and “Superior Spider-Man.” During the Skrull Invasion, a Skrull invaded the Baxter Building, posing as Sue, and sent it into the Negative Zone, with Johnny, Ben, Franklin and Valeria inside. When Johnny confronted the Skrull, she revealed herself to be his old flame, Lyja, who had been trying to keep them out of harm's way. When Ben, Johnny, Franklin, Val, and the Tinkerer were ready to leave the Negative Zone she refused to leave, because she wanted to find out who she was. [74] Death & Return [ ] In Earth-98 universe, Johnny married Crystal and has a daughter named Luna and a son named Ray. He is also the leader of the Fantastic Four. [ volume&issueneeded] He first appeared in Fantastic Four/Fantastic 4 Annual (1998).
