Ed Galton, ceo at Cake and executive producer on Amelia Fang said, “Amelia Fang is full of heart, warmth and big adventure.” But even if Amelia and her friends do find Vincent, will they be able to find their way home? Or will they be trapped in the toad afterlife FOREVER? Amelia Fang would much rather hang out with her pet pumpkin Squashy and her friends Florence the yeti (DON’T CALL HER BEAST!) and Grimaldi the reaper than dance at her parents’ annual Barbaric Ball.

A spook-tacular reading! Funny reading from Amelia Fang and the Memory Theif by Laura Ellen AndersonAnderson has illustrated works for a number of authors, including Cerrie Burnell and Sibéal Pounder. In the mid-2010s she was chosen to illustrate the new covers for the relaunches of Enid Blyton’s The Famous Five series and of Terry Pratchett’s Tiffany Aching series. Anderson’s first fiction series as both author and illustrator was the Amelia Fang series. The series revolves around a young vampire named Amelia and her family and friends, which include a yeti, a pet pumpkin, and a young grim reaper. Books in the series included Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball (2017), Amelia Fang and the Memory Thief (2018), and Amelia Fang and the Lost Yeti Treasures (2019). The award-winning series has been translated into more than 20 languages.

When Cadpig gets lost playing hide-and-seek, she stumbles into the path of the evil Cruella de Vil. But can her new furry friends help her escape?

Here’s a fab pic of Laura Ellen Anderson, the author and illustrator of the series, dressed-up as Amelia when we filmed her reading from her first book Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Balllast year in a creepy graveyard.Amelia and friends live in the spooky land of Nocturnia, which means that you can take the Halloween costume box down from the attic 6 months’ early! Laura Ellen Anderson, author and illustrator, chats to us about the inspiration behind her spooktacular Amelia Fang series in a rather special setting. Originally appearing in Dodie Smith’s story The Hundred and One Dalmatians, Cruella has become a classic baddie and is guaranteed to give anyone a chill (especially dog lovers!). We love Amelia Fang and her cute pumpkin Squishy. This series is full of fun, with a deliciously spooky feel. But once children have read all of the books, and Rainbow Grey, also by Laura Ellen Anderson, where do they turn? Here are some suggestions to keep them reading. Another vampire myth I’ve distorted is the idea that they can’t be exposed to sunlight – NOT in my book! In the Kingdom of the Dark the creatures, including vampires, just don’t like the sunlight because they’re usually asleep during the daytime. They’re a bit scared of it; like you or I may be a bit scared of the dark. (Actually, I really AM scared of the dark!)

Join author and illustrator Laura Ellen Anderson for a fantastic reading from her newest book, Amelia Fang and the Memory Thief! The creatures in my world include vampires, yetis, werewolves, ghosts, skeletons, the odd cyclops and many more. Here are some of them enjoying a dance at the Barbaric Ball. Kids’ entertainment specialist Cake is partnering with DCM Pictures and Boulder Media on 2D adventure comedy series Amelia Fang, aimed at 6-9 year olds. Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball was Waterstones Book of the Month in October 2017. Amelia Fang would rather hang out with her pet pumpkin Squashy and her friends Florence the yeti (DON’T CALL HER BEAST!) and Grimaldi the reaper than dance at her parents’ annual Barbaric Ball. When the King’s spoiled son Tangine captures Squashy, Amelia and her friends must escape the party to plan a daring rescue! But they begin to realise things in Nocturnia may not be quite what they seem. Robert Cullen, founder and creative director at Boulder Media and Director on Amelia Fang added, “Bursting with charm, comedy and adventure, Amelia Fang also carries a wonderful message of acceptance at its heart.”

New to the Amelia Fang Series

In Amelia's second adventure, she and her friends Florence the yeti (DON'T CALL HER BEAST), Grimaldi the Death and Prince Tangine (reformed spoiled sprout), along with her pet pumpkin Squashy, must brave the journey to the terrifying Kingdom of the Light to try to find Tangine's missing mother, Queen Fairyweather. Watch our interview with Laura Ellen Anderson, celebrating the release of Amelia Fang and the Memory Thief: About The Amelia Fang Books The Kingdom of the Light is the setting for Amelia’s second adventure Amelia Fang and the Unicorn Lords, which publishes in March 2018. And I’ve had lots of glittery fun exploring that world and the adventures that await Amelia there.
