I've seen some reviewers comment that they need an arm sleeve to use this pad adequately. This doesn't jive with my experience, but I play in a cool room with a fan blowing directly on me. You MIGHT need a sleeve if you play in a hot environment as moisture on the pad from sweat will cause minor interference to glide. But if you aren't sweating, you should be fine. The skin from your hand or wrist touching the pad should not in itself cause any sort of issue. Ah and yes, with ceramic tiles on the floor, I'd hate indistructible pads and tiles have go at each other: either winner would have me loose something...

But I do notice that my gaming kids all seem to use pads on their wooden tables, so I guess in a professionally competitive environment you need to trade comfort for precision and speed. This pad (the XL 3.0) is big. I've never run out of room on it, and, as a result, my formerly ever-present paranoia that I'm going to run off the pad, which previous pads instilled into me, is gone. It might seem like a little thing, but it means that if I need to sweep the mouse large distances, I have the confidence to take the action without any hesitation that I'll run out of space. This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items. The pad itself is nicely finished. The edges are rounded and don’t feel sharp anywhere, the surface itself feels extremely smooth and natural to the touch, and the whole surface is perfectly level. Obviously this isn’t a very portable mousepad, so if you’re someone who is always gaming in different locations you should really consider if it’s worth the hassle to transport it all the time, but if you decide that it is you can rest assured that it’s decently sturdy. I didn’t throw it to the floor or anything, but I treated it like I would any regular (hard) mousepad and it stood up to that just fine.

I remember some of the earliest mice in Sun SPARCstations, which in 1989 already used an optical sensor but required a metal pad with optical markings etched into it to work. While the precision and speed was much better than the mechanical mice of the day (much less effort cleaning them, too), I quite remember being constantly irked by the metal's higher level of thermal conductivity: the right palm of my hand always felt a bit cold and that might have permanently biased me against anything pad underneath my mice. Bought this as I was tired of buying cloth pads only to replace them every few years due to degredarion. Having cats means that I frequently need to wipe fur and other foreign substances away from it, which over time causes damage to these pads. With this one being glass, fur wipes away very easily, and skin oil and other substances can be washed away with regular window cleaner. No need to worry about the pad degrading after cleaning. Besides the speed and smoothness, the glass surface comes with another important advantage, that being the sheer durability that it has. The SkyPad will most likely never change in feeling and will be able to maintain its speed indefinitely. There are variables like you damaging the surface somehow that might influence that statement but under normal circumstances, this pad will last forever.Because the surface is so fast the SkyPad is not necessarily recommended for tactical shooters like CS:GO or Valorant but if you lower your sensitivity to the 43-62 cm range, even those games can be played competitively. This pad is great for fingertip grippers. The fingertip grip has always prioritized finesse and little movements. This means that the less friction you encounter, the easier the mouse moves and the more precision you can obtain. For how I've been playing FPS games for decades, this pad is a godsend. The force you apply with your fingers is purely directed toward moving the weight of the mouse and NOT overcoming the friction of the pad. The muscle memory you can ingrain into fine movements over time is awesome.

So the verdict? I'm loving it so far. The texture is smoother and quieter. The sound it makes is just a lot more pleasing to the ear than version 2.0, but it is still noisier than other hard pads although it doesn't bother me at all. The 2.0 was not. It's thin enough that it doesn't bother my forearm on the edge. Using a sleeve is necessary to me if any important aiming is involved. Lastly the speed. Is it 50% faster than the 2.0? It definitely feels like it compared to the 'slow' 2.0 that I had. I'm using a set of new corepads. I would say it feels just as fast as using G Float ceramic feet with a new polycarbonate pad. Very little static friction. It's so smooth too.Enter the SkyPAD 3.0. As far as I'm concerned, the SkyPAD is the KING OF THE HARD PADS. I've had mine since the end of May, so a little over 90 days. I'm using it with a Corsair Sabre RGB Pro with aftermarket PTFE feet from Corepad. Here are my keytakeaways: This new 3.0 version is 50% thinner, 50% smoother, and 50% quieter than its predecessor according to SkyPAD. That’s a whole lot of improvements, but as I said I can’t comment on how this translates to the real world as I have never used the 2.0. I’m just including this information to be complete. Performance

Of course one might say that a product at this price hasto come in a nice box, and I would agree. The SkyPAD is the most expensive mousepad I’ve ever tested, and with an MSRP of a whopping 120 dollars there’s not a lot of room for error with this product. The SkyPAD 3.0 is the fastest pad I’ve ever tested, and if you are looking for a frictionless gliding experience this could really be it. It does come with a number of caveats, however. The pad’s hard and extremely smooth surface is completely unforgiving towards inconsistencies, be it with your mouse skates or your surface (think hairs, dander, …) so you will want to keep a cloth handy. Make sure it’s not a wet cloth, though, since the surface obviously won’t handle humidity very well due to the fact that it can’t absorb any of it. And last, but not least, it’s also a very loud mousepad. It’s not that bad when just gliding around with your mouse, but if you’re often resetting your mouse after swiping there’s definitely a lot of noise going on. Lots of stuff to consider, in other words, but that’s just how it is with glass pads. It comes with advantages (such as the fact that it will never wear down; something that isn’t true for cloth pads) but also disadvantages, and there’s no way around that. SkyPAD 3.0 Review – Conclusion Finally another complaint I have about this pad are the non-slip feet. There are four of them, one in each corner, which means that the pad tends to flex a little when you rest your arm on it. A minor annoyance but it is there. The feet also don't do a great job at gripping the desk like my previous cloth ones did.Since then I've preferred to go padless on a XXL wooden table I built and painted myself at the time, whose surface I actually expected having to repaint periodically, but it's held up just fine so far. And in terms of thermal conductivity and touch comfort wood is very hard to beat. The SkyPAD 3.0 is built for speed, and our testing and my personal experiences can attest to the fact that the brand has succeeded on this front. This is without a doubt the fastest pad I’ve ever laid my hands on. If you keep your fingers off of the surface itself, it almost feels as if your mouse is gliding in thin air. There’s really nothing stopping your mouse except for your own hands, and that’s a feeling that takes some getting used to.
